Poster for "Picasso at the Lapin Agile"

Like last year, I really wanted to get involved again in the Secondary Play Production of this year by making the poster for the play. However, the difference between last year and this year was that there was 2 plays being made this year, which in consequence meant two posters to be made. For this reason, my friend Valeria Castro and I split up the work between us two: while she made the poster for the opening play (This is a Test) I made the poster for the main play (Picasso at the Lapin Agile).

At the beginning we wanted to do something similar to what was done last year, which was organizing a contest to chose the design for the poster. This time we were the ones in charge of organizing the competition, so we prepared some posters for this and we placed them all over the school. We only got one entry:

Unfortunately, this entry for the design for Picasso at the Lapin Agile was plagiarised, which was something against our ethics, so we decided not to use the design and do something original, even if this took us longer. Despite this, my friend lives far away from me, which is why  had to take full responsibility for this poster. The poster for "This Is A Test" was done quickly as the day in which both of us met up to work on the posters Valeria focused on creating the poster while I gave her indications and advise on how to make the poster. By the time we "finished" that poster, we already realized that we hadn't done much of my poster, so the rest of that day I had to start on my poster while my friend returned to her home.

We kept on talking with the play director, Mr Felsman, and our art teacher, Mrs. Williams, about the posters and their opinions on it. We had to change the colours, the typography and the placement of the information a couple of times in order to please all of the stakeholders of Tiny Piano Productions, which includes sponsors, the director, the art department, the actors, the costume and props department, etc. This took us a lot of time, but unfortunately for me just before the week of premier of the play my computer failed and I had to delegate the final touch ups for the poster of "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" to Valeria.

In this activity I learnt a great deal of teamwork with my friend, with whom I'll be working next year on the next Secondary Production in the poster making process and also as Co-Director of Tiny Piano Productions. Additionally, this gave me more confidence and responsibility when it came to consulting and presenting the poster ideas and all.

Personally, as well as creating the poster for "Picasso at the Lapin Agile", I was also tasked the creation of the program for the two plays, which would be handed to the audience on the three nights in which the play was going to be displayed. These are some of the examples of the finishing product:

Overall, this allowed me to accept and incorporate other people's ideas in a short amount of time, as we had to complete all of these tasks within 2 months prior to the premier of the play, preparing us for the responsibility we have to face next year as Co-Director of Tiny Piano.
